This morning was beautiful and a little bit cooler in Costa Rica. Then we had some warm sunshine, some showers, and a cool afternoon and evening.

Kelly asked the kids to share something they had learned or were thankful for yesterday. Allison said that you can praise the Lord even in ankle-deep mud. Luke said that God gives us strength to pull weeds. Kevin said that all the boys got mud at least up to their waist!

In the morning we worked on the inside and outside of Casa de Mission. In the afternoon we went to the Purple Church and Carlos sat and told us about God´s ministry through him with prisoners. He started with ministering to prisoners, then added the prisoners´families, and then prisoners who are released from prison and their families. He told us that there is nothing the prisoners have done that we are not capable of. He told us that the prisoners have explanations for their crimes, but no justifications. What they need is reconciliation with God through Jesus. His ministry aims for the salvation of the prisoners as well as the discipleship of them. The church that he pastors is involved in all of these ministries.

We then went out into the neighborhood surrounding the church. Some of the team cleaned up a garden by a store to help a family. Others went out to evangelize. Then we all joined together in evangelism. We went from door to door knocking and asking people how we could pray for them and asking them to write down their prayer requests as well as their contact information. We also left flyers on how to know Jesus as your personal Savior. We got to see a very different culture from Madison, Alabama. The streets, sidewalks, stores, transportation, and architecture are all different, not to mention the language!! Carlos went with us and he and his church will pray for and minister to the people we talked to.
